The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is a standardized test designed to evaluate the English language proficiency of non-native English speakers. It is commonly used for study, work, and migration purposes in English-speaking countries. The test assesses four language skills: listening, reading, writing, and speaking. Each skill is scored on a scale of 0 to 9, and the overall band score is the average of the four skills. A high score, typically 7.0 or above, is often required for admission to universities or for immigration purposes.
IELTS has been setting the standard for English language testing for over 30 years.
It is jointly owned by the British Council, IDP IELTS, and Cambridge University Press & Assessment.
Over 12,000 organizations worldwide recognize and accept IELTS scores.
